Welcome to one of the most anticipated large-scale installations set in the heart of the first Burning Man since 2019 - Project “Pariṇāmanā”!
Pariṇāmanā features a 20-feet tall metal device and an interactive meditation chamber. The installation collects audio messages from humans and converts them into radio waves before casting them into space.

**CONCEPT**
Conceptualized by the New York-based Chinese artist Tang Wu, the installation is a sci-fi interpretation of the Buddhist practice “Pariṇāmanā” (Hui Xiang, or 迴向): building cosmic connections between us and the boundless universe.

This art installation is inspired by the Chinese Buddhist concept Hui Xiang, 迴向, (or pariṇāmanā, in Sanskrit). “迴” means “echo and return”, “向” means “directions”. To oversimplify a bit, in this world, everything is cosmically connected and one can send a message of blessing to anyone and everywhere. All they need to do is add a destination in their chant. This concept—along with the faith of extended, omnipresent cosmic connections—has existed for thousands of years. And casting our voices into the space is my way of materializing this practice.

The method I adopt—building a giant transmitter and collecting human audio—is also inspired by an important sci-fi work: the Hugo award-winning Sci-fi epic “Three-Body Trilogy”. In the novel, Ye Wenjie, the young scientist frustrated by humanity during China’s Cultural Revolution, sent out a message through China’s massive military transmitter in the hopes of seeking salvation from alien civilizations.
However, this project is conceptualized as an antithesis of the novel. The book—hailed internationally and recommended by Barack Obama—detailed a Darwinistic and gloomy picture of human-alien contact, predicting the doom of humanities if we are to communicate with other extragalactic civilizations. In project pariṇāmanā, I’d like to inspire a more diverse imagination about what we can communicate—beyond an intergalactic zero-sum game of war and domination.

There are many costs associated with a venture of this size. We need to host an art show, complete with ways of displaying Wu's other digital art pieces at the event. We need to be able to cast, build, and transport the parts to build the structure. We need to have the equipment to piece it together when it arrives. We need to be able to set up the system to have our messages transcoded into a waveform and a person to handle capturing the audio we will beam into space.

We need to be able to erect and structure a working camp on the playa at BM- which requires plumbing, a water system to dispense fresh and eradicate wastewater, a generator for electricity, a heating system, ways to keep cool in the scorching desert sun, and a litany of other things that you'd never think a standard art project would necessitate. This isn't to mention flights or the sheer amount of hours spent on the work. This is a hard labor of love.

**CURRENT PROJECT STATUS**

We are encouraging everyone to participate in this installation, instead of just opening to the burners- we want to help you to send your voice to the universe to establish an unknown cosmic connection. It can be a question you want to ask the aliens, or sing your favorite song from earth, or simply just introducer yourself to an unknown species.

For donation over $55, you can upload a 30 second voice message to our website for us to send into deep space.
For donation over $88, you can upload a 1 minute voice message for us to send into deep space.
For donation over $111, you can upload a 2 minute voice message for us to send into deep space.
For donation over $222, you will receive a unique NFT that's generate by a human&AI collaboration produced the in the Parinamana metaverse, and you can also upload a 2 minute voice message for us to send into deep space.

This isn't a standard art project. Parinamana is a moment, an experience with the goal of inspiring a more diverse understanding about what we can communicate. Our consciousness, generated by meditation and beamed into space, has the potential to speak to aliens in the language of the mind. Perhaps they have advanced beyond the need for speech, and this is the right way of reaching them. There's only one way to find out.
