We are a group of parents raising funds to support Meriden Primary School, a wonderful school that is currently facing financial challenges.
Following the recent closure, due to repair problems, the extent of the school’s financial challenges has been highlighted as below.
Unlike nearby schools, Meriden is a local authority maintained school with no additional trusts or funding streams. Although the school pays into a council maintenance package each year, it has no control over how or when repairs are carried out. As a result, the school building – originally constructed in the 1960s – is now in urgent need of major work. The roof, which has deteriorated over many years, will finally be replaced this summer after countless temporary repairs that have cost the school greatly.
Despite these challenges, the staff continue to go above and beyond for our children. Teachers are funding supplies from their own pockets to ensure pupils have what they need for their learning and wellbeing.
Sadly, the recent school closure has meant that the summer fair, which was expected to raise £3,000, had to be cancelled.
The summer fair is a key event in the schools annual fundraising calendar that not only raises much needed funds but brings the wider community together in supporting the school.
This money from the summer fair would have helped provide essential classroom resources, supplies and enriching experiences for all pupils.
As parents, we want to support the school and its dedicated staff by raising funds to:
• Replace vital classroom resources lost due to the cancelled fair
• Reduce the burden on teachers who are buying supplies themselves
• Ensure our children continue to access an inspiring, creative curriculum despite budget pressures
Every penny raised will directly benefit the children and staff who work so hard to give them the best possible education. Any donation, big or small, will make a real difference to our school community at this difficult time.
Thank you so much for your support.
