Parents Should NEVER Have To Bury Their Child

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Tom DeBoy and I am helping my wife’s sister Angela Luskey & her husband T.J. Luskey, to raise money for funeral expenses for their son James R. Luskey. James was unexpectedly taken from this earth too soon at the early age of 27. Needless to say, our families, relatives and friends are devastated.

.James was born with severe hemophilia and at times struggled with painful joint bleeds that limited him in his daily life and activities. Many times throughout his life he was weighed down with various casts and crutches. Most of the time there were no outward signs of a disability.

From a young age, James would work hard as a volunteer to help his mom with various programs such as summer camps, holiday dances & dinners, field trips and all sorts of activities for individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities. He worked passionately with children and adults with special needs and formed relationships that lasted many years with both the participants and fellow staff members.

After years of experience working and training at various camps and programs, James worked as a lifeguard and pool manager for MCRD and Maryland-National Capital Park & Planning Commission pools up until early 2020 when a combination of Covid-19 closing so many local pools and a long battle with mental health issue came to a head dealing with depression and addiction.

James is survived by his only brother Michael, his mom Angela and his dad TJ. who is disabled himself from a spinal cord injury in 1981 that resulted in him being a quadriplegic. T.J. has a van with a lift and hand controls he drove until further health complications rendered him bedridden in 2007. In the last few years, T.J. has been able to sit up again in an electric-powered wheelchair and working on his mobility. The four of them have lived together in a two-bedroom apartment for as long as I can remember.

There is no money for funeral arrangements, nor a celebration of life. If you can find it in your heart to donate to this GoFundMe page, all monies will go directly to fund the arrangements. Any leftover money will go to the family fixing up the van for transportation for James’ dad.

Bless your generosity, and any amount would be appreciated. Any questions or needs, please contact me, his uncle, Tom.

Thanks, and here’s to a happier new year for all.
