My parents lost their house in an explosion
Donation protected
Hey everyone. I'm originally from Ukraine. Honestly, I never thought I’d have to write something like this. On the night of May 26th, my parents house in the city of Starokonstantinov, was destroyed - a drone fell nearby, shot down by Ukrainian air defense. It didn’t explode in the air like usual, but hit the ground right next to their house and detonated. All this happened around 3 am. My mom was telling me on the phone - she could barely speak from shock - the explosion was really strong. One of the outside walls completely collapsed. That was my childhood room. The windows are gone, some of the furniture is damaged, the roof is also badly damaged, and the foundation now has visible cracks. How they survived at all - I still don't understand. They were in a different part of the house at that moment. My mom is ok, but still in very bad psychological state. My dad had some shrapnel wounds. He was examined by doctors and is now fine. They are now living in a hostel where they accommodate all those who have lost their home.. They sleep in a small room with horrible conditions. Everything’s really hard. My mom is 63, and my dad is 61. That house was their only home, they lived there for over 20 years. On May 27, a commission came to the site, documented and photographed everything and told us to wait for an official damage assessment to apply for compensation. But according to people who also experienced the loss of their homes, many of them have been waiting for more than a year. Some have not received anything at all ( Also if you need I can attach in the comments the official papers from the commission). We, together with relatives, already managed to gather and send around €2500. It covered food, clothes, meds and some urgent stuff. But starting any real repairs - rather problematic.
The house is not livable right now - it’s too damaged.
I’m launching this fundraiser not for myself. I’m doing it for my parents - so they could at least partly return to a normal life. I attached some pictures of the house so you can see what happened to it, also on my gfm there is a video inside the house taken by local journalists. I want to be completely transparent, so if I haven't mentioned everything in my text, you can ask me in the comments and I will try to answer all your questions as soon as possible. This is the story of my parents - who’ve worked honestly their whole lives, never asked anyone for anything - and now they have nowhere to go. Not even a place to make a cup of tea. I understand there’s many people here who also need help - for health, for housing, for saving children. I hesitated for a long time before asking. But now I honestly don’t know where else to turn.
If you can help - even 1-2 euros it will be greatly appreciated
And if not - please just share this post.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for not staying indifferent.
