I am seeking mutual aid for a friend that is in desperate need of financial assistance. They are currently renting in Palm Bay and can't make their rent/utilities payment due to their spouse being temporarily put out of work due to a medical emergency. He's meant to return to work next week but Mainstreet Renewal is threatening eviction of them and their two very young children if their dues are not paid immediately.
I've learned that Medicaid will aid in rent and utilities payments if you have children on it, and we're currently looking into that assistance. So far we have tried 221, Brevard CARES, Brevard Action Team, the Charity Center and we're waiting on a call back from HCI, but everywhere seems to be out of funds, so I'm resorting to the community. I know that most people are struggling at the moment, but I ask that if you have the capacity to give, to please consider.
Nobody should have to worry about having a place to live, and especially not while loved ones are suffering medical emergencies and their are children to be cared for.
They are in desperate need of $900 to allow them and their children to scrape by until next month. That is exactly $500 for rent, $220 to keep the lights on, and $180 to make the payment on the predatory loan they were forced to take as a result of this unfortunate situation. In order to fully catch up and protect their cars and home and get back on their feet, they would need $3178, which I have set as the stretch goal.
Thank you sincerely for reading and considering.
