Keep Children Safe on Chairlifts
Donation protected
As most of you know, on February 24, 2019, a six-year-old girl fell 30ft from a chairlift while in ski school. We all rallied, wanting to know what happened, who is responsible, and how are we going to prevent this from happening again. https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/make-eldora-safe-for-kids
Together as parents, we learned that there is:
NO regulatory body that oversees chairlift operations and ski slope safety.
NO regulations preventing children as young as 4 years old to be placed on chairlifts unattended.
NO requirement for children to ride a chairlift with a safety bar.
NO requirement that chairlifts have safety bars.
NO regulation that requires lift operators to assist children when loading or unloading a chairlift.
NO requirement that lift operators stop a chairlift if a child is dangling.
NO requirement that the ski industry report loading and unloading accidents unless they result in death.
Together as parents, we are saying this is unacceptable. We are demanding more for our children.
We have been tirelessly working with legislators trying to untangle this completely unregulated, powerful industry.
We want to continue this fight with you and for you! We are working hard to change legislation, resort practices, and ski culture. Help us do it!
Your donations will be used to continue to fight for reasonable regulations to keep children safe on chairlifts and on ski slopes. Your donations will be forwarded to your initial membership after we incorporate as a non-profit. We are really creating something special and significant. Let's keep it going!
I love working for all of you!
Sincerely,
Larisa
