Pardon my language, but Eff Cancer: Help Kelly Beat This
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
We are sharing the story of someone who means so much to so many of us—our dear friend, Kelly. She has always been a beacon of light, strength, and service to others, and now she faces the fight of her life against cancer.
Kelly is a devoted member of her church, dedicating much of her life to serving others in her community. Kelly has always been there for those around her. She gives and gives, even sometimes at her own expense. Now it is our turn to give back.
She is also a proud mother to two beautiful daughters, one amazing son, and a loving stepmother to two more kiddos. Yes, you read that right - her and Josh have five children together, and if that sounds like a lot - you're right. Kelly is the chaos controller. Josh is her strength, her rock, but it is Kelly who wields that strength to create a home and make order navigating the emotional and physical needs of this family. She has a job to do, so that means that so do we. Let's support Kelly, so she can support her family.
The treatment plan for Kelly is set in motion, with plans to begin in early April. First, she has 3-4 weeks of radiation at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, followed by surgery, which is already scheduled for April 28th and 30th. After surgery, Josh & Kelly will need to stay at Mayo for at least two weeks for recovery, and possibly longer for physical therapy. That could mean that Kelly misses four months of work, and since she is already months into this battle, she has no paid time off left.
While Kelly and Josh are strong and hopeful, the financial burden of this treatment plan is a heavy one. Travel, medical bills, and staying away from home for extended periods are adding up quickly. While she has applied for assistance through Hope Lodge for housing during treatment, we know that these resources aren’t guaranteed. This is why we are reaching out to our community to help support her through this journey.
We have created this GoFundMe campaign for Kelly, but we know Kelly is more than Kelly. We are raising this money for those 5 kids and Josh who need her every bit as much as she needs Mayo Clinic.
If you’re unable to donate, we completely understand, and we ask that you consider sharing this campaign with your own networks. Every share helps spread the word, and your prayers, thoughts, and words of encouragement are just as important during this time.
With heartfelt gratitude,
