Hi, my name is Cheryl, and I’m fundraising to help cover the cost of private parathyroid surgery that I urgently need.

I was diagnosed with primary hyperparathyroidism in October 2024 after becoming increasingly unwell. This condition has had a huge impact on my health and daily life — causing severe fatigue, bone pain, brain fog, weakness, and episodes where my body simply shuts down. I’ve been unable to work for around 10 months, and my quality of life has dramatically declined.

I have been under NHS care, but after months of delays, lost communication, and changing circumstances, I have been left without a clear treatment plan. I recently learned that the surgeon I was transferred to see is no longer operating at that hospital, and I still haven’t received follow-up or even blood test results from my appointment in November 2024. Unfortunately, waiting any longer is no longer an option for my health.

I have enquired about private surgery, which costs £6,500. And the surgery can be completed within 2 weeks of payment! We have been selling items and have raised £3,300 already which is incredible. This surgery is the only definitive treatment for my condition and offers the chance for real recovery — but the cost is far beyond what I can manage alone, especially after being unable to work for so long.

I never imagined I would be in this position, but so many people have kindly encouraged me to set this up and offered support. Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean the world to me and would go directly towards covering the cost of surgery and associated medical care.
