Progress Update: 2/10/26

My name is Janie. I secured this lost dog on 1/29/26 and he needs help. Posted lost at Front Street Animal Shelter ID# A728573

Update 2/10/26: He is decompressing safely in my carport. He is now on monthly heartworm and parasitic drugs. He has been scanned and he is not microchipped. I will be training him and he will eventually be up for adoption.

2/1/26 Update: A vet came to my home but not able to take him. He needs eye surgery, entropic eyes and the swelling in his face maybe due to an ear infection. The vet was unable to do a thorough exam. Age undeterminable without looking at his teeth. He is scared, but is trying to connect with humans. The rescue kindly offered a bed and food, for now I have provided them but greatly appreciated the vet help. The law. I hold him for 30 days, then I can surrender to a rescue that can help, this I havent been able to find due to past capacity. The city shelter intakes him and allows rescues to pull. If any come forward.

The vet is donating oral internal and external parasite control in the meantime and the vet will return to try again.

I also found out, possibly an unhoused man had been walking the two dogs, who appeared "totally aware and interacting with them" a week before. Estimated date of observation 1/20/26 based visual accounts.

I am hoping this post and flyers will help find their owner. If you are involved with the unhoused in the fruitridge blvd/ Stockton Blvd in Sacramento and can help find their owner please reach out.

This dog was and is loved. He is cat friendly, he isnt interested in interacting with dogs but not aggressive. He chooses to watch my dogs from a distance inside his enclosure. Non reactive to them, even though my puppy keeps going to him to get him to play. This dog has a story of love, having a male brother, a dad guardian and I am praying for his happy ending. Maybe he didn't get the best medical care, given he may have been an unhoused dog, but this dog was loved by his previous guardian from what I have gathered. He has a very sweet temperment as far as I have seen but scared. Who wouldn't be trapped in a strange backyard.

Update: 1/30/26
I found through researching, he had been roaming with a male dog companion/brother for the last 6 days! His brother has been at the city shelter since 1/27/26, ID# A728431 The shelter is under lockdown due to a virus. I am seeking a certified 501 (c) (3) non profit who can foster this dog and help him find his forever home in exchange for this gofundme. He is sweet, friendly, currently scared. However has shown no reactivity to human, cat, or dogs. Very chill dog but scared. He appears older. Possible skin issues or being outside during the past few days of 40° nights. Overall seems very healthy, moves well, great temperment. No collar. Possibly not chipped, his brother wasn't but the vet was unable to get close enough to scan.

I am one person and we can't save them all but we can try to help save this one together. If you want to help. This gofundme will go to the non profit who can help him.

I will foster him now that I have him over to my house. But I have 3 rescues already and unable to care for a fourth long term. Which is why I am trying this. Please help this dog!

I will call him Dog. I am a dog trainer so his time here will helpful for him but I need a name to start training. Dog can easily be changed to a new name since he has probably heard this sound made towards him before.

If I have to surrender him, which won't be until the shelter reopens. It was scheduled to reopen 2/4/26 but now its 1-2 weeks out. So there is time to help this Good Dog! We can make a difference in this dog's life. Someone out there has been looking to help and adopt this very dog! You can help fund or find his furever home.

Please share this with as many people as you can. Influencers please help him get the word out I am desperate for help. If I have to surrender him, which I am trying not to.

Update 1/31/26. Donations may be used for his medical care, any non profit that provides immediate care, even if they can't take him, any remaining funds will go with him where he lands. I will post what happens to his dollars on here as updates.

I know it's a tough time for lots of people but even $1 will go a long way. Let's make a difference in this dogs life. Its a tough time to be a dog today and person. If you can please

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for donating if you can and sharing if you can't.

Janie

P.S. Wishful thinking: Reuniting him with his male companion as a bonded pair adoption or his original owner if possible. I can dream. Let's get the story out. Please share this! I could use a happy ending right now.
