Paradise Lost for Expecting Couple

My nephew Alec Slater and his girlfriend Ashley recently lost everything in the Camp Fire in Paradise, California.  They were both determined and proud to manage my bother's Subway restaurants in Paradise and Magalia and recently surprised us that they were expecting a baby boy in January! Alec and Ashley just moved into a home with Ashley's 5 year old daughter Claire and were in the process of preparing baby Breckin's nursery for his arrival. 

That all changed on Thursday, November 8.  News of the fire prompted both to make sure their restaurants were secure. Alec was able to get out, but Ashley was caught in the chaos of the traffic trying to evacuate. After her phone died, Ashley got out of her car and WALKED (7 months pregnant) among the chaos to get out of Paradise. Many volunteers helped her along the way and she was able to safely get to her in-laws' house in Chico. However, it took 6 hours before Ashley could find her mother and Claire who had been in Paradise that day. 

I can't even imagine what my family has gone though. Not only were my brother's Subway restaurants destroyed, but the house they had just moved into was also lost. 

Please consider donating to Alec and Ashley so they can prepare for baby Breckin's arrival and provide a safe home for Claire.  They will need baby supplies, clothing, and home goods to start. If you would rather provide tangible items, a registry will be set up in their name to be included soon. 

We realize there are many, many tragic stories out there and appreciate any help at this time. ALL funds will go to Alec Slater so he can provide for his young family.
