Paradise / Camp Fire - Marion Weer
Donation protected

Marion lived on Boquest Blvd in Paradise, CA.
A friend called on Thursday morning to ask if she knew about the fire that had started earlier that day in her area. She looked out her window and saw her neighbors home on fire! She grabbed her cat Annie and left the house immediately. There wasn't time to grab her phone, or any belongings.
We are all so grateful that she was able to travel safely out of town and make it to her friends house!
Marion has lost her home and everything in it.
Her family is gathering around and is helping her to find temporary housing and get her a few basics for living such as clothes and a cell phone.
As an almost 80 year old single woman living on her own, with a very modest fixed income, she has no savings to draw from. This is financially devastating and a tragic loss of her few family heirlooms not to mention her home of 25 years.
The beautiful gardens in the photos below were meticulously and lovingly maintained by Marion. This little house and garden were her world. The loss of which is very painful.
We are saddened by this tragedy and wish to help Marion find temporary housing and get a few belongings of her own.
Over the next few weeks we will need to find Marion a place to stay, and will need to find housing, furniture, clothes, and furnishings, to make a home for her until she can decide her next step.
We figure this will take about $9,000, with the hope that she will be get adequate compensation from her home insurance and be able to make long term housing plans within a few months.
This will be a short fundraiser as Marion needs help immediately with housing and replacing personal belongings.
We can't imagine having to start over with nothing, or to lose a life's worth of treasures, and our hearts breaks for what she must be going through.
Marion will appreciate any support you can offer. Even a comment is appreciated!
Her family will make sure all well wishes and contributions will be given directly to Marion.

A note from one of her daughters Jill:
Friends....I need your help. I need help to help my mom. We have received confirmation that her sweet little home is now reduced to ashes....nothing is left, absolutely nothing. The pain and devastation is impossible to comprehend, even being this close to the situation. It's so surreal. We are all humbled by how many helpers are out there but I am at a loss on even where to begin to help her. This is the last thing you want for your nearly 80-year-old mother. She loved her home and garden...she put her heart and soul, sweat, blood and tears in to it. The things she accomplished there were amazing. The heart break is palpable...yea...things are things, but the loss of security and familiarity for someone her age is terrifying. She is safe with me in Grass Valley and her basic essential needs are handled, however each day is bringing it's own set of evolving needs and fears. I'm going to try to answer the question that I've been hearing so much...."How can we help your mom." The first one is simple....compassion, love and understanding. If you have time, please drop her a note, a silly card, a few words of encouragement. She's old school and isn't on Facebook but you can send them to: Marion Weer P.O. Box 502, Grass Valley, CA 95945. It's amazing how a few words of support can go from a complete stranger. This will help her get up and face every hard and sad day that is in front of her. Her mental state is what I fear the most. It's just too easy for her to give up....I need help to build her spirit. Please, please help me with this. Secondly, we realize how much she will need to start to rebuild her life. It's overwhelming when you think you have to replace everything in your world down to a pair of nail clippers. Gift cards, Amazon cards, Visa cards anything that she might be able to hang on to and use as the needs arise. If cash contribution is easier, my sister-in-law has set up a GofundMe. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Much love to all that have been affected by this devil fire. ~jill
