Meet our new friends the Forslund Family--Erik, Melissa and 3 ½ year old Gunnar. We met them through the Paradise Fire Adopt a Family Facebook Group. On November 8, 2018 they, like so many others, left their rental home in Paradise, California with not much more than the clothes on their back, fleeing the flames and smoke from the Camp Fire. What should have been a one hour car trip to safety took four, and through much of it they didn’t know if they would get out alive. They made it, but their home and its contents did not.
Thankfully Erik’s employer, Save Mart found him a new position in the Central Valley so they do have an income to get them through the normal day-to-day expenses once they get back on their feet. Although they have a place to live in Stockton, CA and are very grateful for the many donations of furniture and other household items they have received, every day they find something else that needs to be replaced. And as you can imagine they have wiped out their emergency fund.
As we begin this new year, we are hoping our friends and family will help us give our adopted family a new beginning and chance to rebuild their life. At this point, cash is the easiest way to help them move forward towards normalcy as it can be used to replace a potato masher, print and frame a family photo, or pay a car repair bill.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.
