Claire Cox family lost Paradise home in Camp Fire
Donation protected
One of my oldest and dearest friends has lost everything in the Camp Fire. She made it out of Paradise with her husband, youngest son, dogs and a handful of family pictures only after she confirmed that her oldest son and his family could get out. Unfortunately, because she and her husband are both disabled, she was under insured. It will be a real struggle to rebuild their family home.
Because of Claire's disability, a Traumatic Brain Injury caused by a major accident on her way home from work a few years back, she is having difficulty comprehending all of the information flying at them so soon after having to collect her family to flee through flames to escape.
Her son Dylan still lives at home and is able to help with lifting and physically demanding tasks but is unable to help with any of the emotional draining tasks that are triggering her.
Her husband Ron was able to connect with the VA at the shelter and will be able to continue service to deal with his disability which is the only good news I have to report at this time.
This family took me in and got me through my first Christmas after losing my husband and some of my greatest challenges. They are the type of people that would give you the shirt off their backs and the food off their table. My wish is for people to come together and help me show them the kind of love and support that they would give if they were able.
