Who is Don Clark? He is one of many of Paradise residents who lost everything but the clothes on his back in this devastating Campfire. We met Don in 1996. We were remodeling an old building to set up as our restaurant. He was recommended to us by a good friend. Andy gutted the building and Don helped us to do all of the rough plumbing. Don's house was right down the street from ours and we became very close friends over the years. The thing about Don is that he is a good and amazing human being often greeting people with a smile and a hug. He would do plumbing for people and never overcharge. The problem is that he would under charge and some people would take advantage of his kindness. When a person didn't have much Don would not charge much if anything at all. We are good friends and we would help him and he would help us. His pride was his home and it wasn't much but it was paid for. Most people would remember him and his wife Janet for the house at Christmas time. It was infamous. He would open his home to anybody to come and see the outside and see all of the decorations inside and even won an award. He would pay high PG&E bills just to keep that tradition going every year to make people happy. Unfortunately he was unable to obtain insurance. When the fires destroyed his home he became homeless. Our goal is to help him obtain shelter. Currently he is staying on his property that burned down in a van. Anyone that can donate anything big or small would be much appreciated and 100% is going to him. We care about him and his family and would appreciate any support. This is our goal to help this man. Thank you for everyone that has reached out to us. Fortunately we have insurance and we are more than blessed by the outreach of people and the support of family and friends. Thank you for reading and thank you for sharing this page if you are not able to give.
