Many people slept in because the sun took so long to come up, then it got darker; so dark that without a headlamp you might walk right into a tree without seeing it. The sound of rain was actually heavy bits of soot. The sound of thunder rolling was in fact hundreds of propane tanks exploding as the fire came closer. Almost everyone we know lost their homes in a matter of a few hours without warning or time to make provision for their families. No laptops, no sandwiches, no plans.
As with car insurance, if you owe money on the house; the insurance will pay off the bank but may not actually replace your house. We want to return home as soon as possible and gather our displaced friends to reside in temporary housing on my family's 4.77 acre plot of land in Paradise while we clean up and rebuild.
Most of us are just so homesick already! The need to return to our own bits of land and make Paradise beautiful again is very powerful.

Thank you so much, Christopher Nolan and Andrea Cochran
