Para Ice Hockey Dreams in Norway 2024.

My name is Nicole Jodi Hill, but everyone calls me Jodi. In 2001, I was in an accident that left me with a severely damaged left ankle. Over the next nine years, I underwent 27 operations to try and save it, but to no avail. I spent most of those nine years on crutches and in a lot of pain. My life changed dramatically, and I had to give up all sports. I struggled daily to live normally, and at times, I felt like I had lost myself. In 2010, my leg was amputated below the knee. But that didn’t stop me. I started my para sports journey, and the highlight of it was competing in London 2012. I started playing Para Ice hockey in 2022, and like most para sports, it is completely self-funded. In this time, I have been to two women’s world challenges and a pool C world championship, which we won and were promoted to Pool B.

Para Ice Hockey in Great Britain is completely self-funded at all levels. This includes all competition fees, flights to and from competitions, insurance, equipment, training fees, accommodation, travel to and from training, and all protective equipment.

In April, Great Britain will be competing in Norway in the B Pool World Championships, which is part of the Paralympic pathway. My team and I are working hard towards this goal. I am hoping to raise enough funds to go to Norway as one of the two netminders on the team, which is essential for us to compete. The cost of attending this competition is around **£2500 per athlete and coach**.
