On December 22, 2024, my Aunt Patricia’s life was devastatingly changed unexpectedly. While preparing for church, her left leg gradually began to swell, coupled with unbearable pain. Aunt Patricia ended up in an ambulance ride, fighting for her life, due to a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) event, or blood clot. Praying she would be able to keep her leg, she was also diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism, a blood clot that traveled from her leg, pelvic, hip, ending in her right lung. While enduring all of this, she underwent a thrombectomy and a stint was placed as an immediate life-saving measure. She is still battling heart complications and layered challenges that have resulted in a major life setback, and is now a new normal. Patricia stayed in the hospital for a month, and her recovery has been an uphill battle.

Aunt Patricia still needs heart surgery to place a stent in her weakened walls and is dependent upon 20 medications to keep her alive.

Living in a rural area, her visits to her specialists can be two hours or more away, and the expense of gas and travel excessiveness is wearing her down.

Aunt Patricia will tell you surely this has been a faith walk, and continues to write her testimony, believing God will provide. She has been a caregiver all her life, caring for her deceased sister when she battled breast cancer, her uncles during their sunset years, her mother as she endured dementia, and other elderly clients that she stayed through hospice care, even when she was no longer needed.

Your donation will contribute to Aunt Patricia’s medical expenses:

* Transportation expenses, to and from appointments, over 2 hours away
* Copayments and out-of-network costs
* Life-sustaining prescriptions
* Everyday living expenses to maintain comfort, food, and utilities
* In-home care to help her in this healing journey

Aunt Patricia is dealing with edema currently, causing immobility and utilization of a walker, lightheadedness that can contribute to fainting spells.

As a caregiver, you simply don’t feel compelled to ask for the help you need, and that is why I am asking for her. Aunt Patricia has been the boulder to so many shoulders, and she now needs the love and support to get to a comfortable place in this healing journey, including Good Samaritans who can be the answer to prayers she’s been uplifting.
