Papu the pug needs your help
PAPUCHO, PAPARUCHO
Papucho, his friends call him Papu, is no ordinary dog. He’s incredibly special, kind and loving. Not a bad bone in his chubby Pug body. His superpowers are snoring and making friends. He’s an internationally acclaimed cuddle monster. He’s the sunshine of my life and makes me feel love and happiness in ways I didn’t know possible.
WHAT HAPPENED?
After playing with a new house guest, Papucho jumped from my bed. This is the same jump that he’s made 1,000 times. On Friday, May 29 though something terrible happened. When he landed on the floor he couldn’t stand up. Both of his legs were paralyzed. I carried his cute chubby body to the car and rushed to hospital. They quickly directed me to the ER.
WHAT NOW?
After several hours of waiting I learned that Papu may have fractured a disk in his spine. An MRI was suggested and I was told he may need to have surgery. This was going to cost up to $9,000, which I didn’t have.
In the middle of the night I decided it would be best for Papu to come home and spend the night in bed with me. He was so happy, but still couldn’t use his left legs. The next day I say how much difficulty Papucho was having going potty. Being the polite gentleman he is, I knew he wouldn’t go in the house, so I took him back to the ER. Since I brought him back on a Saturday, after the neurology team left, I was told I’d have to pay up to $10,000 for the MRI and surgery. I decided i wanted to do anything I could so Papu could go back to snoring and making friends comfortably.
As of today, 6/1/20, they have taken the MRI and ruled out the cause being a fractured disk in his spine. They still don’t know what’s wrong though and will be performing more tests on 6/2/20, such as a spinal tap. As of right now though, the doctor thinks he may have an autoimmune disease that can only be treated through physical therapy.
THE SHORT OF IT
I simply cannot afford this cost on my own. Thankfully Papu and I have amazing people in our lives that were willing to help, but they need to be reimbursed.
WHY?
I love this dog. He is my life. As a single woman living in America and coming from Venezuela, the universe delivered me the Venezuelan man of my dreams, Papucho Paparucho. I know the world and country are experiencing so much pain and suffering right now, and I know this is a lot to ask. I can’t, and don’t want to, imagine my life without Papu. I humbly ask you for your help and support.
From the bottom of our hearts,
Lu and Papu
