I started fostering Paprika and her sister Pumpkin about 9 months ago. Paprika has always been the sweetest, most outgoing, most playful cat. A few weeks ago, I noticed that Paprika had lost quite a bit of weight. She had less energy and had stopped eating. I took her to the vet, and her bloodwork results showed that she was severely anemic. Something had triggered her immune system to start destroying her red blood cells. She had to be rushed to the emergency vet to receive a blood transfusion. After the transfusion, her red blood cell counts started to increase, and I was hopeful that she would be able to make a full recovery. Unfortunately, even with medications to help manage her anemia, she started to get worse again. Last night, she was given another blood transfusion in hopes of raising her red blood cell numbers again. Sweet Paprika will need ongoing care to help improve her health, and I would be so incredibly grateful if you could donate any amount to help make sure my baby gets to come home and live a long, happy life with her sister.
