A story about connection…
Set in 1990s Belfast, Paper Hearts follows Alice, a Deaf teacher, and Peter, a taxi driver, two people from very different worlds who meet through a local writing group.
They don’t share the same language.
But they begin to understand each other in ways that go far beyond words.
This is a story about, depression, loneliness. love and what it truly means to be seen.
Why this film matters
Paper Hearts is more than a short film.
It brings together Deaf and hearing creatives, telling a story that is inclusive, authentic, and deeply human.
We are committed to:
✔️Working with Deaf performers
✔️ Creating opportunities for local talent
✔️Telling a story that reflects real connection and understanding stories like this deserve to be told, and told properly.
