As most of you know, our Dad unfortunately was involved in a terrible accident on his Harley last night (11/4/2018)
We have started this account in hopes to raise money for our Fathers mortgage and medical/miscellaneous bills that are to come in the following months. Anything helps!!! Above all we ask for your prayers, love and continued support as he has a long road to recovery ahead.
We will be updating his status via Facebook and try to keep this page up-to-date as well.
As of 11/5/2018: he’s much more stable than last night. Still intubated and sedated. They've woken him up a few times now (every 4 hours) he was able to shake his head no when they asked him if he has any pain and shake his head yes when they asked if he knew what was going on, this last time I was there and he was grabbing my hand and could hear me talking to him. Just a little bit ago my brother went in to see him and as soon as he heard my brothers voice talking to the nurse he started reaching for him and opening his eyes. He's got a very small contusion to his brain with very minimal bleeding so they believe that will heal on its own, some fluid draining from his left ear which leads them to believe he has a small fracture to his skull but it was undetectable in his ct scan so they're doing an mri this evening, possibly an issue with his right eye because they said his pupil isn't reacting normally but are going to have an ophthalmologist look into it further, fractures to his pelvis and shoulder blade which they've put on the back burner until his lungs/heart/ribs are more stable. Their biggest concern is he broke all but one rib on his right side and it's causing his issues to his lung and breathing, they're planning to do surgery this week to straighten out a majority of his ribs with metal plating, they're monitoring his heart and said it could be doing better but it is working overtime since all of the trauma to the rest of his body. The doctors seem optimistic, he has a very long road to recovery but he's strong!
As of 11/6/2018: he’s doing well. Nothing significant seen on the MRI last night which is great so the nurse is just awaiting permission to take off his neck collar. BP is still stable, he’s still on 1 medication to keep it up (compared to 3 meds yesterday), his ventilator is at 40% help (compared to 50% yesterday), she said he’s on lighter sedation so they’re seeing more response out of him just with med administration, bandage changes, etc. they’re still planning for surgery tomorrow to straighten and plate his ribs. My Dad is absolutely the strongest man I know, to not only be struck by a vehicle but then to be ran over and to have his health positively progressing like it is, is amazing.
