Hello, I am raising £7500 for my grandfather's T.U.R.P surgery.

I have been caring for my Papa since august 2024, after he was rushed into hospital with sepsis, which was due to a UTI that had not been treated.

He was then diagnosed with benign prostate enlargement. He was put on a catheter and then sent home. A month later he was rushed to the hospital again with sepsis caused by an infection in his catheter.

He was put on a medication called tamsulosin, hoping to get him off the catheter. Unfortunately, that was unsuccessful.

After many failed catheter removal tests, he had an infection every month until the catheter was taken out in February 2025, after he was put on finasteride.

Since getting the catheter out, he is still very unwell. He has a recurring UTI each month, which is triggering an episode of delirium. Once the UTI is treated the episode ends, but his memory and confusion won't get better for a week or two; and then the cycle starts again in 2-3 weeks.

It's been a horrible cycle for not only my papa but the rest of the family.

We have been on the waiting list for the past year to see a urologist through the NHS but we have had no follow up, no plan for his care. I have tried to speed things up by contacting his GP, by phoning the hospital, but we have had no support. It feels like neglect from the NHS.

I took my papa to see a urologist privately. The consultant is fantastic. He suggested that my papa should have a TURP procedure which would allow him to urinate without strain. It would also mean a better quality of life for my papa by significantly reducing the chance of further infections.

The price of the surgery is £7500.

My papa doesn't have any savings due to the passing of my nan, his wife, in late 2021. He is my only remaining grandparent, and I don't want the unthinkable to happen through him getting sepsis or god forbid anything else.
