Papa's Support

My dad.

There has not been a moment when he hasn't given everything off his back to help anyone. His family has always come first. And his grandon is his everything. The news that was shared this week has been devestating and unreal. I'm not sure how anyone is supposed to cope with cancer.

My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 Pancreatic cancer on April 13th. It's really something how you can remember where you were standing and how you felt at that very moment. It's unfair and it's heartbreaking. I can't make sense of this and I'm not sure if I ever will.

He will be starting Chemo treatment next week. From the sounds of it my dad will not be going to back to work as it's just not possible. The doctors explained to my parents that this cancer is very aggressive. Trying to wrap my own mind around what that really means is heartbreaking.

His grandson, Madden is his everything. (pictured with my dad during one of their snuggle sessions) Madden didn't have a father in his life for over 8 years so my dad represents not only a grandfather to him but a father as well. "Papa" is his best friend. Madden is aware that papa is sick with cancer and his life is now forever changed. He has his moments of confusion and sadness. He misses his papa everyday and I know this is going to be hard on him. Please send your strength to this little boy. I feel that I have taken his childhood with this news but I also know he needs to know.

Please send strength to my mom. She's heartbroken and hurting a great deal.

Please send strength to my sister and myself as our father has been everything to us. Please send strength to my entire family.

I have no idea what the expenses are going to entail with his treatment. I don't know what will be needed outside of insurance coverage and I don't have a clue what a goal here should be. What I do know is that I want to take some weight off my parents. I know that deep down they will begin to worry about money when they should really be worried about time and family and healing.

Anyone who knows my dad knows his heart. I ask that you pray for him and for us and that we all get through this the way we should. My parents are in shock and are trying to work through their own thoughts and plans. Please send your love here. They will read your comments when they're ready.

Thank you.
