Papa's Healing Journey (Kaala Kaio)

Before his stroke, my papa was an avid surfer, canoe paddler, musician and volleyball coach. In October of 2018, everything changed when he had a cerebellar stroke. The hospital did not diagnose it in time, and as a result, my papa ended up on life support, and was flown to O`ahu for a craniectomy to relieve pressure on his brain stem and save his life. There were so many times in those first few weeks when we thought we would lose our dad. But God...

Dad is alive today, living out a plan that only God understands. He is currently needing 24/7 care. He is still unable to stand or walk on his own, as his balance is severely affected. His coordination, vision, speech and swallow are also extremely compromised. But we have seen small miracles happen all along,  and we have been pleading with God for more.

Last summer, mom took dad to Revive Treatment Centers of America in Colorado. This particular facility offers intensive neurological therapies and treatments that are unavailable to him on Maui. Dad was there for five weeks and experienced noticeable improvement in his vision and coordination. They are planning to return this summer and (hopefully) as often as they can.

We are humbly asking family and friends to help support dad's healing journey as the unique therapies offered at Revive are not covered by insurance. Anything helps and we are sincerely grateful to you all!
