Joanne and Dominick Papandrea, have been living a nightmare.
The Papandrea's world shook when their daughter Carrie was diagnosed with cancer. Bravely fighting this disease with her day in and day out seemed like an unfair chapter in their lives. Joanne selflessly took Carrie to treatment - she was everyone’s rock and Dominick continued to run their Pizzeria so they could support her in every way. Joanne always remained positive in the hardest of situations. They took her on trips and tried to make every moment of life she had left, the best one.
On December 18, 2014, Joanne and Dominick woke up to every parent's nightmare. They received a call from their son-in-law. They had lost their daughter, Mari Ellen unexpectedly.
Just 5 short weeks later, Carrie also passed away. Dealing with the tragic loss of two daughters took a toll on Dominick and Joanne that very few could ever come back from. The sparkle in their eyes were dimmed and their smiles were few and far between.
As if this family hadn't been through enough, Dominick was then diagnosed with Leukemia. He had to take a break from his passion, the Pizzeria. He has run Pizzerias for 47 years, the last 20 of which were at Spring Lake Gourmet Pizzeria.
Dominick went to Hackensack Hospital for a Stem Cell Transplant while renovations were being done at the Pizzeria. Without notice, while Dominick was battling for his life, the owner of the Pizzeria informed them that they could no longer operate the business.
That was the only source of income for Joanne and Dominick for the past 20 years. They had to leave their home and get rid of one of their cars.
There comes a point where you can only handle so much. Dominick and Joanne have been brave and strong for so long. I am asking for everyone to put themselves in Joanne and Dom's shoes. It's a scary thought. Any contribution would mean so much to this family. They are such proud and private people but I begged them to allow me to create this page for them. Dominick needs to focus on surviving cancer- not the financial nightmare they are in. They need a break from having to be strong.
