Papa Steve Willcuts

Hi, this is Amberlee (Willcuts) Mueller and my dad Steve Willcuts has been diagnosed with cancer. He started not feeling well at the beginning of February. For quite a while he was in and out of the Yankton doctor's office with many tests being taken.

They thought it could be so many different things to start with, but after many tests and trips back and forth to Yankton & Sioux Falls doctors, he was diagnosed with esophagus cancer.

Then as they started taking more tests to make a treatment plan, they determined the cancer was spreading. It currently is stage 4 cancer in the esophagus and has spread to a few adjacent lymph nodes. Steve has begun both Chemo and daily Radiation treatments that will last for 6 weeks. After the 6 weeks is over we are taking him to Sioux Falls for major surgery to remove the cancerous portion of his esophagus and to stretch it back together.

He will be on a feeding tube for some time while this heals and has to be in the Sioux Falls hospital for at least a week. My Mom (Brenda) is missing work to take him to appointments and be there for him. My Dad has some PTO but not much left. So they are both missing a lot of work and the medical bills are now starting to arrive. This fundraiser is to help with the major medical bill deductibles, travel to & from Sioux Falls, hotel, food etc. We want to Thank You for all of the prayers, kind words and love our whole family has received already.
