Papa Rey Romero displaced from Lahaina Fire

Hi, my name is Jackie Romero. My sister, Lynne and I are doing this gofundme for our dad, Rey Romero. He is one of the many that lost his home from the Lahaina Fire that happened on August 8th. Some may know our dad as that guy that works at the Oluwalu General Store in the kitchen. Or that guy that is always fishing on the shoreline in Lahaina.

Our dad lost everything in the fire. He escaped with whatever clothes he had on his back. He lost not just material possessions, but he also had lost irreplaceable possessions- ashes of our sister Chantell, our stepmom Cindy, our grandma (his mom) and his and Cindy's dog Romeo.

It was hell not being able to get in touch with him when the fires started, but when we heard his voice, we were relieved. At first, he had refused to come to Kahului or to Kihei to stay because he wanted to go back into Lahaina to assess the loss, as a way of confirmation for himself that it's gone. Our dad is a stubborn man and he is not one that will ever ask for help with anything, especially financial help. He is also a man who will give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. The money that will be donated with help our dad with clothing, basic necessities and housing.
