Papa Meo's Hospital Bills
Donation protected
My first and forever love has been in the ICU for the past two months. It started with a simple UTI infection that led to multiple complications: blood infection, lung infection, diabetes and hypertension. Yet, my Papa is still bravely fighting, his will to continue living is strong. He wants to go home to his mother, wife, children and grandchildren. He wants to be able to breathe on his own, and hopefully one day, sing again. Oh, how I miss hearing Papa’s voice when he sings "Born Free" by Matt Manroe.
While we remain very hopeful that we will surpass this major trial as a family, I am also very anxious about the growing hospital bills. Like any average Filipino, Papa does not have health insurance. In the Philippines, you will not receive medical treatment if you do not have money to pay for each medication, procedure, or boarding upfront. If you have no cash, you either die or risk seeking low quality treatment in a government hospital which do not have sufficient resources.
We have been blessed with generous relatives and friends who have helped us along the way with donations in cash or in kind. However, it is my two older sisters who have to bear majority of the medical bills which now total more than P1 million pesos. My sisters are working very hard abroad with two jobs to support Papa’s medical bills, on top of our family's daily expenses and education of my nephews and nieces...
As much as I badly want to help my sisters, I do not earn much and I am also supporting my grandma and my nephew’s education. The only way that I can think of to help ease the burden on our family is to knock on anyone’s generous hearts! Any amount that you are able to give will be gratefully appreciated. I am confident that God will reward you a million fold.
