Sadly my little kitty sidekick, Pantsface, is extremely unwell and on his 4th day in kitty hospital.
He's developed urinary crystals that block his urethra and he is not able to pee, and untreated this would result in a ruptured bladder followed by death 20 minutes later. The vet has had to manually unblock him twice now, but he needs surgery to completely rewire his urinary tract so that it doesn't get blocked again.
His name is Pantsface and 4 and half years ago we found him in a gutter, literally, abandoned by his mum when he was 2 weeks old with his eyes not yet open, riddled with fleas, and deathly ill with kitty flu. The vet said to make him comfortable but don't get attached as the likelihood of him surviving was painfully low. BUT he's always been a fighter and with a lot of love and care he powered through, and he's been my happy, healthy little mate since!
He's currently in the pet hospital with a catheter and hooked up to an IV drip, along with a range of other drugs to help keep him as comfortable as possible, promote urination, and prevent him from ripping out the catheter which would cause the crystals to reblock him almost immediately. Every night he's there is adding hundreds to the vet bill for accommodation, medication and treatment/procedures. His ever-growing vet bill is looking to be astronomical, and his pet insurance doesn't cover his surgeries. Unfortunately it's reaching the point where I'm not able to meet his medical costs. He's up to $3.5K and the operation he needs will double that figure. I've always struggled asking for help, but on advice from pals I've swallowed my pride and set up a this page so little Pantsface might get a shot at his life-saving surgery.
Every little contribution adds up so even just a few dollars will help towards covering his medical costs so he can live to fight another day (and track kitty litter all through the house again. Fun!). It's just been me and him for the last 4 years and the thought of him being put down when there is a preventative option is heartbreaking.
