Paniagua family needs some help

Hi, we are the Paniagua family, a small family living in Miami, FL. We recently lost our jobs and are being thrown out of our apartment, by its new owner.

A little background on us dad is a chef. He's worked in various restaurants in Miami, and mom works from home while taking care of our son. Our son is a carebear, he's turning 12 and about to enter the 6th grade. He loves to sing and make letters out of various papers. He is autistic. But nothing stops him from being a straight A student and getting honors in school.

So back to the situation and in all fairness the new owner had no idea we were still in the building. Our previous landlord didn't tell us he was selling the place. We didn't find out until it was official. Even though we had heard rumors that he was selling the place, everytime we spoke to him he would tell us he wasn't sure was going to happen. This was around March we started hearing he would sell the place. As the months went on most of the 12 tenants in the building started leaving. Our apartment buidling isn't the Ritz. We have lots of issues here. When it rains, it pours inside through the windows. It just recently started dripping in the kitchen. The floors are worn out and are in desperate need of repair. One tenant left because her roof caved in. Of course we always told the landlord of these issues and he just always patched things up. The new landlord knows this and is going to remodle the entire building from roof to floor. When we started asking about any renovations he might be making first he said he was going to fix the windows and then everything else. The old landlord had been telling us since April he was going to find a place for us because of renovations he was making, no mention about a sale. We didn't hear anything from him every month we went to pay the rent he would accept it and say nothing about the sale of the building. Now in June when we went to pay he said that he would help us find a place and if he couldn't then he would give us our deposit back and we could live the month of July rent free to be able to move out by August 1. In fact last Wednesday, June 21 his maintenance guy came to tell us the city was going to be coming to shut our electricity and water off. We have been looking for apartments to move, but haven't been successful. Since we lost our jobs it's been hard to save money and in Miami we live check to check. Having to pay rent and bills at the beginning of every month and only having one of us working makes it hard to save a lot of money at one time.

Today June 23 we just met the new landlords and from his mouth he said that the landlord was aware that the sale was going to go through since May. He should not have accepted any rent from us because he knew the building was no longer his as of June 20. We pay month to month so he should've only accepted half. However he didn't and now we're left with nowhere to go and no money to leave.

Like I said in the beginning we both are between jobs and need a little extra help to get out of this place and into a new place in Miami. We're aware not everyone can help and this is a desperate last resort. If you can anything will help. The money will be used for deposit and security towards our new place. It will also help with us transferring the title of a car that was donated to us. Also if by any chance you know anyone hiring for restaurant chef or customer service representative it will help. Hola, somos la familia Paniagua, una familia pequeña que vive en Miami, FL. Recientemente perdimos nuestros trabajos y el nuevo dueño nos está echando de nuestro apartamento. 

Un poco de historia sobre nosotros, papá es chef. Ha trabajado en varios restaurantes en Miami y mamá trabaja desde casa mientras cuida a nuestro hijo. Nuestro hijo es un carebear, cumple 12 años y está a punto de entrar a 6to grado. Le encanta cantar y hacer letras con varios papeles. El es autista. Pero nada le impide ser un estudiante sobresaliente y obtener honores en la escuela. Entonces, volviendo a la situación y, para ser justos, el nuevo propietario no tenía idea de que todavía estábamos en el edificio. Nuestro arrendador anterior no nos dijo que estaba vendiendo el lugar. No nos enteramos hasta que fue oficial. A pesar de que habíamos escuchado rumores de que vendería el lugar, cada vez que hablábamos con él nos decía que no estaba seguro de que eso sucediera. Esto fue alrededor de marzo cuando comenzamos a escuchar que vendería el lugar. A medida que pasaban los meses, la mayoría de los 12 inquilinos del edificio comenzaron a irse. Nuestro edificio de apartamentos no es el Ritz. Tenemos muchos problemas aquí. Cuando llueve, entra a cántaros por las ventanas. Recientemente comenzó a gotear en la cocina. Los pisos están desgastados y necesitan urgentemente una reparación. Un inquilino se fue porque su techo se derrumbó. Por supuesto, siempre le contamos al propietario sobre estos problemas y él siempre arreglaba las cosas. El nuevo arrendador lo sabe y va a remodelar todo el edificio desde el techo hasta el piso. Cuando comenzamos a preguntarle sobre las renovaciones que podría estar haciendo, primero dijo que iba a arreglar las ventanas y luego todo lo demás. El propietario anterior nos había estado diciendo desde abril que nos iba a encontrar un lugar debido a las renovaciones que estaba haciendo, sin mencionar una venta. No sabíamos nada de él cada mes que íbamos a pagar el alquiler lo aceptaba y no decía nada de la venta del edificio. Ahora, en junio, cuando fuimos a pagar, dijo que nos ayudaría a encontrar un lugar y, si no podía, nos devolvería el depósito y podríamos vivir el mes de julio sin pagar la renta para poder mudarnos en agosto. 1. De hecho, el miércoles pasado, 21 de junio, su encargado de mantenimiento vino a decirnos que la ciudad iba a venir a cortarnos la electricidad y el agua. Hemos estado buscando apartamentos para mudarnos, pero no hemos tenido éxito. Desde que perdimos nuestros trabajos, ha sido difícil ahorrar dinero y en Miami vivimos de cheque en cheque. Tener que pagar el alquiler y las facturas al comienzo de cada mes y tener solo a uno de nosotros trabajando hace que sea difícil ahorrar mucho dinero a la vez. Hoy 23 de junio acabamos de conocer a los nuevos arrendadores y de su boca dijo que el arrendador estaba al tanto de que la venta se iba a concretar desde mayo

No debería haber aceptado ningún alquiler de nosotros porque sabía que el edificio ya no era suyo a partir del 20 de junio. Pagamos mes a mes, por lo que solo debería haber aceptado la mitad. Sin embargo, no lo hizo y ahora nos quedamos sin ningún lugar a donde ir y sin dinero para irnos. Como dije al principio, ambos estamos entre trabajos y necesitamos un poco de ayuda adicional para salir de este lugar y entrar en un nuevo lugar en Miami. Somos conscientes de que no todos pueden ayudar y este es un último recurso desesperado. Si puedes, cualquier cosa te ayudará. El dinero se utilizará para depósito y seguridad hacia nuestro nuevo lugar. También nos ayudará a transferir el título de un automóvil que nos fue donado. Además, si por casualidad conoce a alguien que contrate a un chef de restaurante o a un representante de servicio al cliente, será de ayuda. Muchas gracias.
