Many years ago, when we were but 18 years old, we dated. Something terrible happened. A dramatic night, a mistake, an apology and we went our separate ways. Neither of us was happy with that outcome, but life went on, other partners were found, kids were born and raised. We remained friends. Many years went by without any contact. Then I had a break-up and remembered Carolyn, saw her profile on Facebook, and as they say, the rest is history.
Our savings are non-existent. No traumatic incident, just poor planning amidst major life changes. Carolyn home-schools her kids and takes care of my elderly father. We get by on my income alone. Not glamorous, but we are happy and content.
We want to have a really nice wedding. We want to share this day with as many of our friends and family as possible. We have about half of it paid for and only need $5000 more to make it super cool, and to keep ourselves from going into debt just to get married.
We have decided to make it a "No Gift" wedding. We are hoping that people who feel like gifting can use this channel.
Carolyn has been married before. I never have. I did not have a high school or college graduation or a prom. I see this as the biggest and most significant event of my life. Our wedding date is July 29, 2017. We need to have the caterers bill paid for two weeks prior to the wedding date.
