Pancreatic cancer U.K. - three peak challenge

Hi my name is Charlie,
back in November 2021 my older brother aged 29 was diagnosed with terminal stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
On June 24th to June 26th I will be carrying out the three peak challenge walking the 3 highest peaks in Britain to raise money for pancreatic cancer U.K.
Pancreatic cancer is one of the worst cancers someone can get. From my brothers own personal experience I feel doctors need more education on recognising the symptoms especially in younger people. My brother had ongoing symptoms for 8 months and many GP visits to then subsequently being diagnosed only when he took himself to A+E in severe pain.
I have copy and pasted some facts on pancreatic cancer from the pancreatic cancer U.Ks website.
  • In the 1970s, 1% of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer survived their disease beyond ten years, now it's still 1%.
  • The life expectancy for stage 4 pancreatic cancer is very low, estimated to be about three to five months.
  • There are around 10,500 new pancreatic cancer cases in the UK every year, that's 29 every day (2016-2018).
  • More than half of all cases of pancreatic cancer are first diagnosed at stage 4 when the cancer has spread to distant organs

i think the above facts show just how much research needs to go into finding a solution for this awful disease to be diagnosed at an earlier stage and that will be the only way survival rates can be improved.

thanks
