Pancreatic Cancer Treatment and Medical Bills
Over the last four months I haven't been feeling well. I couldn’t get past certain symptoms, and felt that these were not related to my diabetes. So I went to the emergency room on July 7th. After numerous tests and finally biopsies, I've been diagnosed with Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Cancer. This is not a forgiving type of cancer that can be treated, but rather one that can only be slowed down, hopefully for a few years or more. Of course, we know that God has the final word and I trust in his plan. So today is the beginning of a new chapter on my journey with God. I consider each of you my friends, supporters, and colleagues, and partners as we have served in life and ministry these last 20+ years. I am being scheduled for a Pet Scan shortly and will start Chemotherapy at the end of this month, daily for two weeks, then off for two weeks. During the off weeks I will get pet scans to evaluate progress, etc.
Presently Cathy and I are still processing this news, as is my family. It's kind of surreal as I sat with the doctor, "is he talking to me?" But daily I feel a little bit off, a little bit more tired, however my faith is strong, my passion to reach the Unreached is great, and I still have dreams and goals. It's just that I now have an expiration date... so with my family we move forward.
