Help us row in Rio-PanAm Qualifier!

Donation protected
On August 20, 2018, we won the USRowing Pan American Games Trials in the Men's Pair event. This victory has earned us the right to compete at the Pan American Games Qualification Regatta in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which takes place November 29-December 2 of this year. A top six finish at this regatta will qualify us to compete at the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru in July 2019.

While the Pan American Games are fully funded by USRowing, the qualification regatta is not. That is why we need YOUR help to get there!

Our expenses include airfare, lodging, and boat/oar rentals. USRowing estimates that equipment and transportation for the equipment will cost $3700.00 per person. We hope to find a more cost effective option, but that is the only option we have for the time being. Flights and lodging will total approximately $2000.00 per person.

Representing the U.S. at this regatta and the Pan American Games represent unparalleled opportunities for development. These regattas are a platform for both of us to further our goal of rowing at an even higher level in the coming years.

We appreciate any and all help that you are able to give! If you are not able to support us financially, then please share this page on social media or other platforms.

Donations can be made on this page or via check made out to Vesper Boat Club.

ABOUT US

Logan Smith

Logan is from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and he began rowing as a freshman at Philadelphia University in 2009. After simultaneously completing undergraduate and graduate degrees in Physician Assistant Studies, Logan began rowing at the club level with University Barge Club, where he remains an active member. After competing internationally at the Henley Royal Regatta in 2015 and 2016, Logan decided to pursue rowing at the elite level by joining the High Performance Group at Vesper Boat Club. Logan hopes to one day compete at the Summer Olympic Games.

James Garay

James grew up in East Leroy, Michigan, and began rowing as a walk-on at the University of Michigan in 2012. After earning a degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering in 2016, James moved to Philadelphia to pursue rowing at the elite level. For almost two years, James pursued sculling with the Penn AC High Performance Group. After transitioning to Vesper Boat Club, James swapped two oars for one and began rowing the pair with Logan. He is excited for the opportunity to represent the U.S. internationally.
