My 180 mile ride to fight cancer

Donation protected

Yes. I am really doing this.

A lot has changed for me over the last twelve months. I've taken back control of my health and I'm more active than I've been in 20 years. So, it's time for me to put the new Darren to some real use.

Next August, I will be riding 180 miles in two days in Massachusetts, as part of the Pan-Mass Challenge . The Pan Mass-Mass Challenge raises money for life-saving cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute . Last year this event raised $47 million.

You can learn more about the Pan-Mass Challenge at www.pmc.org .

Like every other Pan-Mass Challenge rider, I am committed to raising a minimum of $4,500. By "committed" I mean that the Pan-Mass Challenge organization simply bills my credit card to make up for any shortfall in funds .  With your help, I aim to complete the challenge without dying or filing for bankruptcy.

Go on.... do it. You know you want to.

PS. I know lots of you have had questions so I've answered some of those questions below.

I'm broke. How can I help?
Get a job?

What happens if you have a horrific accident?
Expect another Gofundme campaign to cover those medical expenses.

I've donated to your cause already but I still have some spare cash. What should I do?
No problem, Moneybags: there's a wishlist. Think of it like the list you wrote for Santa as a kid, only it's full of boring stuff and none of it's for you.

Do you accept corporate sponsorship?
Yes. The only thing I don't accept is advice. Get your checkbook out. Please note: the worse your logo is, the more I'm going to need from you.

What if you don't complete the whole 180-mile ride?
What if YOU don't complete the whole 180-mile ride???

Can I donate directly to the Pan-Mass Challenge in your name?
Yes. Contact me and I'll you send the info. (I bet you find those wedding gift registries a bitch too, don't you?)

My uncle used to ride a bike in Massachusetts!
That's not a question. This is a question: did you ever go to school?  And here's an answer: no.

Why am I still reading this?
That's another story for a different day.
