He is dapper, brave, and long.
Sometimes, he sings his sweet song.
Your favorite hot dog sure knows how to live,
And has so much love to give.
But this week has not been so good,
Though we tried to please him with pets—and food.
His mood, low—oxygen count lower.
His happy gait slower and slower.
Several trips to the vet, we learn the deal:
An auto-immune disorder, the threat is real.
Not enough blood cells did the doctor see.
After a diagnosis, she could prescribe—for a fee...
We rejoice: with this medication, he is stable!
This sweet long boy could live another 3-6 years
We may yet avoid our worst fears!
Pan may yet steal another pizza slice—or two, or three
But the costs have added up.
The vet charged a lot to help this sweet pup.
Ky, alone, cannot bear this price.
