Pam's Final Fight
Donation protected
As many of you know, our mom, Pam Moultrup, has been fighting terminal illness and medical complications her entire life. Several years ago, she was diagnosed with Loeys-Dietz Syndrome, identified as the source of much of her pain and suffering. This connective tissue disorder caused many issues, including aortic aneurysms and a tortuous vascular system. More recently, Pam was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, a severe lung disease that causes scar tissue to grow inside your lungs, reducing your ability to breathe.
On July 8th, 2022, Pam was admitted to the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor to undergo a complete descending aortic replacement. While the surgery was a success, recovery ensued for over five weeks in the Intensive Care Unit with multiple teams of specialists trying to get her lungs to recover. Pam fought hard through this process as she had in all 16 prior surgeries her body had endured over the years. While every possible tactic was employed to try and get her to breathe on her own again, it simply did not work.
On August 15th, 2022, Pam lost her long-fought battle with a terminal illness and peacefully passed away with her family by her side. Pam married Gary, the love of her life, in 1973, who survives her. Pam is also survived by sisters Paula (Jan) Hill and Samantha (Sandi) Lott, her sons Joe and spouse Marie, Chris and spouse Ashley, and Brian, as well as grandchildren Jack, Henry, Paxton, and Penelope, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Due to the cost of such a long-term stay in the ICU and the surgery itself, we ask for contributions to help offset this burden and allow our dad to grieve without the added financial stress. Any consideration is greatly appreciated.
