Hi everyone, my name is Pamela, and I’m reaching out for help during one of the hardest seasons of my life.
I’ve kept a lot of my health struggles private, but I can’t do this alone anymore. Since July of last year, I’ve been battling serious heart issues. After experiencing frequent fainting spells, I lost my job and no longer have health insurance. This has made getting the tests, treatments, and procedures I need very difficult.
Since then, I’ve suffered two mild heart attacks (in October and November) and was diagnosed with heart failure. In January, my heart’s left ventricle ejection fraction was 33% (normal is 55–70%), and last month it dropped to 28%—even while on daily medications. Because of this, I’ve had to wear a “life vest” (a wearable defibrillator) since February.
My doctors discovered I have severe SVT (Supraventricular Tachycardia)—my heart races dangerously fast, then suddenly drops to extremely low beats per minute. I’ve already undergone a heart catheterization, and though my heart looks healthy structurally, the weakness and arrhythmia remain. In February, a specialist attempted an ablation to correct the SVT, but it was unsuccessful.
Now, I’ve been referred to a highly skilled team at St. Vincent’s in Jacksonville, FL. One of the doctors there is hopeful that he can successfully perform another ablation. If this works, my heart function could finally start improving. If not, I’ll need an implanted device (ICD/pacemaker), which may happen immediately after the ablation or at a later date.
My next procedure is scheduled for September 3rd, but I must pay a deposit upfront in order to move forward.
This is where I humbly ask for your help. Any contribution—no matter the size—will go directly toward covering this life-saving procedure and related medical expenses. More than anything, I ask for your prayers, encouragement, and support as I walk this difficult journey.
Thank you from the bottom of my (weakened but fighting!) heart.
– Pamela
