Val as many of you know is one of the most kind and loving people on this planet. She puts the ones she loves ahead of herself in all situations. She has always been so generous with her time, love and care. She has a natural caretakers soul. Val now needs for us to take care of her. Val has recently been diagnosed with Severe Sarcoidosis. A terrible disease that is life threatening and can negatively affect all of her major organs. There is not alot of awareness about this disease and even worse there is quite a lot of misinformation out there. We are hoping to help change that.
Sarcoidosis is a disease which, despite many years of research, the cause is still unknown. Sarcoidosis is not a cancer and is not a contagious disease, although people with this disease are at higher risk for developing certain forms of cancer. All they currently know is that following the exposure to some still unidentified trigger, a patient’s immune system is “turned on” in a way that creates a particular pattern of inflammation. The inflammation can affect any organ in the body. A large majority 50-70% of patients go into remission on their own. However, 20-30% of patients experience a more severe form of this disease without periods of remission despite treatment. Val unfortunately is falling into this severe category. She has severe inflamation of her entire lymphatic system, Lungs, inflammation of the eyes and signs that it may be now affecting her heart. They suspect she may have a secondary issue as well. We have not yet found a treatment for her that has shown signs of improvement or even stopped the progression. But I know we will!!
It took over 9 months to figure out what was happening to her and why her health was deteriorating so fast. She has now reached a point where she has very little energy and is unable to work. Val and Keith have 3 daughters 2 of which still live at home and they also take care of Val's elderly father who also has health issues.
This financial pressure is adding to this already stressful time and we are asking for your wonderful generousity to help ease some of the financial stress. Even the smallest amount is helpful for their family. I personally look at it as an opportunity to take care of someone who has always taken care of me and so many others in a thousand different ways. I hope you feel the same!
