Pam Norman and her Puppy after a House Fire

Donation protected

Hi everyone, my name is Marnelli Rollon. I am writing this on behalf of my co-worker and friend, Pam Norman.

Pam moved into her new apartment on October 1, 2023, specifically so she can receive her new puppy, Gucci. Pam had been searching for months for a pet friendly apartment and the right puppy, and was thrilled to start a new chapter as a dog mom.
On February 20, 2024, I was informed that the plumbing company that was working under her bathroom sink had caused the insulation between her walls to catch on fire. She left work to check on her suite and puppy. The fire department confirmed the fire was cleared and her suite was safe. At 12:34 PM, she received a text message from her building manager stating there was a second fire. The fire department entered her suite with masks and hoses. Again, she left work to go home.
Thankfully, Pam’s neighbor was able to take the puppy to the lobby and was safe. After waiting for the fire department to clear the fire, she was allowed to view her suite briefly only to witness that she had lost everything as a result of the fire itself, the water, and the resulting smoke damage.

Pam had just moved into her new apartment last fall, with hopes of creating new memories and turning over a new leaf after some challenging years in Winnipeg. With the welcoming of her new puppy, Pam was overjoyed to create an environment that felt like home.
Since the fire, Pam has been facing financial challenges, as the money she had put aside to pay for her rental insurance was used for her puppy’s medical procedure. As a result, Pam is not able to claim for damages and is currently financially responsible for all the losses, storage fees and cleaning costs.
In the midst of healing and coping from this tragic event, Pam is gathering the necessary information and resources to eventually sue the plumbing company for not one, but two fires caused in between the walls. However, her main priority right now is to settle the damages and waste from the apartment, and secure a new home. Pam will need to purchase new furniture (bed, couch, etc), kitchen and bath supplies, dog supplies, clothing and linen. Eventually, she will also bear own costs in legal fees upon taking legal action.
All donations are greatly appreciated, as Pam and her puppy are recovering and rebuilding their life after this devastating event.

Thank you.
