Seniors in Palo Alto High School’s Social Justice Pathway are planning a trip to Washington DC for spring break, and we need your help!
The Social Justice Pathway is a cohort of 62 students who have stayed together as a learning community in English and Social Studies for three years. This trip is meant to be a celebratory way to end students' final year in the Social Justice Pathway and continue their education surrounding the history of social injustices in our country. Trip highlights include a Capital tour, Smithsonian museums, Lafayette Square and BLM Plaza, War Memorials, Mt. Vernon, Holocaust Memorial Museum, Pentagon Memorial, and the Spy Museum. We will also have the opportunity to meet professionals in all kinds of government sectors through a "meet and greet" party that our teacher is throwing.
After taking US Government, US History, and American Literature we feel we are uniquely positioned to get an enormous amount out of the trip to our nation's capital. Many of the students attending the trip have never had the chance to travel to the East Coast, let alone Washington D.C. We are raising money to support students in our class who are unable to cover the full cost of the trip so everyone can participate and celebrate together. The idea for the trip was initiated by students and everyone is especially excited because we were unable to go on the 8th grade DC trip because of COVID lockdowns. Any support you can give us would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for helping us get to Washington D.C!
