Palwo orphanage is located in Uganda,Africa. There are 88 orphans living there with only 2 Adults. The founder of the orphanage is mukkiibi Johan musasizi. He has managed to get a few small buildings made and hired 8 teachers. The children are fed from the crops they grow at the orphanage. The small amount of extra crops are sold to purchase other supplies like wood for desks and pay the teachers. Palwo is renting the land they use for farming at 300 dollars per year. They can buy the same land for 1500 dollars per acre. The excess crops are sold on local market at a fraction of their real value because buyers there know the local farmers don't have trucks to travel the hundred miles to the larger markets. A large truck would allow Palwo to transport the crops to large markets and get a fair price for the crops they and the older children( 12 years and older) work very hard to grow instead of selling for very cheap to people who have trucks. Mukkiibi can not save the money to buy land and a truck as there is no money left over after monthly expenses are paid. He makes no salary , he lives and eats with the orphans in exactly the same conditions they live in. Palwo orphanage school also invites over 40 children in nearby village to go to school for free because there is no public schools in the area. The children do basic scholastic lessons and have daily bible study. Mukkiibi and everyone at Palwo do not intend to live off donations indefinitely. Once they have more land equal more crops and good transportation to deliver the crops to proper vendors, Palwo will be self sufficient. Palwo orphanage is raising children and providing lessons to others to teach them how to live a Godly and independent life
