Palmarito Camp destroyed by fire
Tax deductible
On Oct 4, 2023, the camp that houses Palmarito Sea Turtle rescue in Oaxaca, Mexico was destroyed by a fire. The camp is the only structure PSTR uses in it's effort to monitor and patrol 22km of beach for active sea turtles and nests. Nesting season is going to be starting soon. In order to protect eggs, hatchlings and adults, the camp needs to be rebuilt ASAP. Every year, Olive Ridley turtles, Black turtles and endangered Leatherbacks make their return to lay eggs on the beach. Volunteers work day and night to gather nests for protected hatchings, release hatchlings, study sea turtles and protect them against poachers and dogs.
The building and all the supplies were turned to ash. Please donate today, so we can get this rebuilt and continue our work to protect these delicate species.
