Palisades Studio has been a cherished home for young dancers in the Pacific Palisades, Malibu, and Topanga communities.
On January 7, 2025, a devastating wildfire swept through our neighborhoods, destroying homes, schools and businesses. Out of 100 Palisades Studio families, 98 of them either lost their homes completely or were displaced. In the months that followed, our dancers faced tremendous loss and uncertainty. Yet through it all, Palisades Studio remained committed to providing dance instruction as a way of healing and a creative outlet for our students.
For the past ten months, we have continued offering dance instruction for Palisades families, thanks in large part to the generosity of Abby Lee Miller, who opened her West Los Angeles dance studio as a temporary home for our classes. With two Palisades schools now reopened and many families returning to the area, Palisades Studio is preparing a return to the community as well.
A return to the Palisades is a step toward healing. It represents normalcy, familiarity, and the chance for our dancers to once again feel grounded in the heart of their own community.
Why We Need Your Support
Re-establishing Palisades Studio in the community is a significant undertaking, and financial support is crucial to make this possible. Your generous donation will directly help us:
~ Secure a safe and stable space for classes
~ Replace equipment and supplies
~ Offer scholarships to students when needed
~ Continue to provide professional instruction and programming during this transition
~ Rebuild a positive, uplifting environment where children can grow and heal
.
We, Derek and Cami Capps, are the Directors of Palisades Studio. Our own family lived in the Pacific Palisades and, like so many others, was forced to relocate after the fires. Despite the distance, we remain deeply committed to this community and to bringing the healing power of dance back to the Palisades.
If you feel led to contribute, your generosity will help keep this treasured space alive and ensure that young dancers continue to thrive.
