Palisades Storm
Donation protected
Residents in the Village of Palisades are trying to assist our sweet neighbors in recovering from the recent rain disaster that affected a lot of Randall County. On Saturday night, June 3rd a torrential rain storm flooded parts of our community. Adam and Stormey Lehn and their adorable 4 year old son Robin experienced the worst of the storm. “Saturday night about 8:30 torrential rains hit our Palisades Village. Adam noticed the water getting close to the back door. We fought for about 15 minutes before it overwhelmed our reinforcements. 9pm we had water rushing in. Within 10 minutes we waded through 7” of water to get sleeping Robin to my parents vehicle. We gathered up our animals that we could find, killed the power and hoped for the best. We were missing two cats so we went back around 11pm and found them floating on our chest freezer. At this time we had all of the fury family accounted for and safe. We ended up with 17 inches of standing water in our home. Dirt work from up the road filled the drainage ditch and caused it to fail and redirected the wall of water to our house. We were in the process of remodeling our home and now the process starts all over again.”
Stormey was born and raised in Palisades and she started her own family here in 2017. Adam and Stormey are always willing to help their neighbors any way they can and our community wants to show our support to them during this most difficult time. With no flood insurance, the burden of this rebuild will fall squarely on their shoulders. This couple’s character will no doubt prevail. That is the very reason we need to step up with these young parents to overcome this adversity.
