Palisades Fire Took Everything: Help Sarah & Mia
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Julia, and I’m reaching out to you on behalf of my best friend Sarah and her beautiful daughter, Mia. I met Sarah when I first moved to Chicago to attend Columbia College, and from the moment we started collaborating on creative projects, we were inseparable. Over the years, she has become one of the biggest blessings in my life—and to my children as well. Sarah is one of the most selfless, loving, and resilient people I know.
For the last 10 years, Sarah has been raising Mia on her own in the Pacific Palisades. On January 7th, after raging fires broke out across their area, Mia’s middle school directed parents to pick their children up from a high school half an hour away. Panicked, Sarah raced out the door with nothing but her phone.
On her way to the high school, Mia called hysterical, saying there weren’t enough buses to transport all the children to safety. Sarah drove back into the evacuation area, through smoke and flames, to get Mia, then escaped to a hotel, hoping the worst was over.
The next day, Sarah received a shocking video showing that her home and everything in it had been destroyed. Later, she learned her entire community was gone.
We now know the Palisades Fire is one of the most destructive wildfires in LA’s history, and the devastation is beyond comprehension.
Sarah is incredibly grateful to everyone who has reached out and apologizes if she hasn’t been able to respond yet. She and Mia have been left with nothing, and Sarah is in survival mode, doing everything she can to get through each day as they face this unimaginable loss.
Being a single mother is already one of the most challenging experiences a woman can face. I cannot fathom being a single mother and losing everything.
Sarah is one of the strongest, most independent women I know. It took me days to convince her to accept help, but this is a battle she cannot face alone. Sarah and Mia need our love, prayers, and support now more than ever.
Please donate anything you can to help them start over. Many essential needs will not be covered by FEMA or insurance, so these donations will help make those possible.
Please also consider sharing this campaign with others who might be able to help.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and generosity during this tragic time.
