My name is Cara Marianna. I write essays and reports from and about the West Bank based on my travels and encounters with Palestinians there. My project—“Palestinian Voices”—is an ongoing series of essays that bring the lives, histories, and voices of West Bank Palestinians before a Western audience.

I’m now raising funds for my next journey: I plan a three-month visit in 2026. This, my third trip, will enable me to continue this important and necessary work.

When I began this work in 2024, I described my intent in the simplest terms: I wanted to “rehumanize” a people who have been systematically dehumanized over many decades. And I proposed to do this by bringing the voices of Palestinians to those outside the West Bank.

I publish all my essays and reports in my two Substack newsletters, Winter Wheat and West Bank Alerts. The Floutist, the Substack newsletter I co-edit, also publishes my work. West Bank Alerts, launched after my first trip in spring 2024, is where I publish current updates on the deteriorating situation in the West Bank.

My purpose remains the same as in previous trips: to listen to Palestinians from all sectors of society and let their voices, experiences, and perspective be heard by means of my reports. This project is my effort to do what I can, as many of us are eager to do, to contribute positively to a just end to the current crisis.
