Hi friends and family! To celebrate my birthday, I'm organizing the third annual fundraiser for Palestinian refugees in Jordan. Jerash Camp, also locally known as Gaza Camp, is the poorest of the 10 Palestinian refugee camps in Jordan, with the majority of households falling below the poverty threshold.
I launched my first birthday fundraiser in 2022 and originally planned it as a one-time effort. Since 2023, however, Israel's genocide in Gaza and the humanitarian catastrophe it has created in the Strip have redirected much of the local charitable giving that Jerash Camp typically receives during Ramadan, deepening the hardships faced by refugees there.
A community organizer at the camp, with whom I coordinate these fundraisers, told me that many families now wait for February each year because they depend on this annual support for their livelihood. I could not let them down.
This community of Palestinians means a lot to me. I've been volunteering at Gaza Camp for 9 years and will personally distribute the donations to refugees during my next trip to Jordan in March to ensure that every penny reaches its intended recipients. All funds raised will go directly to refugees to address urgent needs, including medication, electricity bills, food, university fees, and other essential expenses.
Donors will receive a detailed list of the refugees they've helped and how their contributions were used.
