Hey World. My name is Anthony Bonaventura and I am making my very first film. I wrote Pale Blue Eyes going through a tough period in life. I got hurt at work, and the very first thing the doctors wanted to do was put me on pain killers. I opted out. I wrote instead. I wrote a personal story from my past, that has in some ways defined the person I am today.
The story is centered around a son meeting his biological father for the first time. A person I never had in my life due to a 40 year heroin addiction. Both of my biological parents, with my father being the only one I did meet suffered from a deadly addiction. Both of them overdosed.
Going through life not really knowing anything about them, I was able to track down my father with the help of google. I met him and we talked for a few hours. The stories he told me, and who he was terrified me. He overdosed soon after, without knowing really anything of where my biological mother could be. In 2017 I finally saw a picture of her for the first time. I learned that she had passed away 15 years prior. The hope in my heart deflated. I would never be able to look her in the eyes. The same eyes she gave me. I would never be able to hear her voice.
I wrote this for a couple reasons. After learning how my biological father got addicted, I felt a certain responsibility to share what I found out. At a young age, he was infected with the polio virus that plagued many people in the 1950's. The doctors at the time started to pump him up with morphine, and he went through many surgeries. My whole life I just saw him as a junkie, without knowing his history. I judged him horribly and have regretted it ever since. I wrote to forgive myself. I also wrote this so that they could have a voice like so many other people that we will never hear about due to an epidemic that has destroyed millions of families.
Many of you that do know me, only know me as an actor. I have helped others tell their stories. Sometimes multi million dollar budgets, and at times micro budgets. I have learned from some of the best. Working on television shows such as THE ROOKIE, SWAT, ANIMAL KINGDOM, and the award winning short series ATROPA. I have been lucky to work with EMINEM and ED SHEERAN for their music video entitled RIVER. One of my most favorite shoots still to this day was working with visionary director Johnny Green and Oscar winning Cinematographer Linus Sandgren who won the Oscar for his amazing work on LA LA LAND.
