The importance of this man’s contribution to the world
The depth of his knowledge
The generosity of spirit
The power and brilliance of his dancing
The well of his creativity
The way he nurtured all of us
He taught kindergarteners and professional dancers preparing for competition...with the same love and commitment.
He choreographed and composed for women’s gamelans and men’s gamelans with the same brilliance and genius.
He respected his peers, revered his elders, and nurtured all of us who were fortunate enough to study with him.
In 100 years, there will be history books written about Balinese arts, and people will wonder what it was like to know the great Pak Man Cerita.
We are so fortunate to have been touched by his light.
I hope we can support his beautiful family in this moment. They already have so much to process, if we can lighten this moment even a little for them, I feel it will help us all heal.
